What separates a made-to-order Vispring from a resized production mattress is where the customisation happens. A factory that cuts a standard unit down to 88" x 88" is trimming something built for other dimensions. Space, Clearance and Living With It

Start with the room, not the bed. An 88" x 88" needs 12'4" x 10'4" as an absolute floor, roughly 127 square feet, which buys you 30 inches of clearance on each side and at the foot and six inches for the headboard.

If the room allows 13'4" x 11'4", take it. The additional clearance is disproportionately valuable at large sizes, because the walk-around is where a big bed either works or becomes an obstacle.

The Delivery Question

Neither dimension leads, which makes the bed unusually calm in a room. The trade-off is that a square bed exposes every misalignment around it: an off-centre light or a mismatched pair of tables will read immediately.
