Living in Vail
Vail runs on a two-season rhythm and a large share of the housing stock is second homes, which creates a particular set of demands. A bed that sits empty for six weeks then hosts four consecutive weeks of guests has to be durable, easy to keep fresh and free of the stale smell that closed-up foam develops. Certified Sleep, which ranks beds specifically on toxicity, described Vispring in its 2026 rankings as having zero smell. In a house that gets shut up between visits, that is not a marketing line, it is a practical property.
Houses, Suites and Proportion
Vail interiors carry more timber than Aspen ones, and the alpine tradition of the village core still shapes what people build. Heavy beams, stone, deep textiles. The risk in a room like that is a bed that competes with the architecture. A Vispring divan upholstered in a natural weave, with the mattress border visible and hand-tufted, sits comfortably inside a timbered room without adding another loud element to it. In the newer Cascade and Lionshead builds, where interiors run lighter, the same bed reads as quietly modern.
Climate, Air and the Bed
Vail Village bedrooms are frequently heated hard and long, and forced air at altitude strips whatever moisture the room had left. This is where the filling composition earns its cost. Wool moderates humidity at the sleeping surface. Horsetail hair, which is hollow and springy, keeps air moving through the mattress instead of letting it sit. The combination is why a natural-fibre bed does not develop the clammy warmth that foam produces in an overheated mountain bedroom.
Independently Ranked
Ranked #1 of 100+ Brands
The 2026 Certified Sleep ranking is the one worth citing, because it scores what a bed is made from instead of how it is marketed. Vispring took first place out of 100+ brands, with the Signatory Superb rated Natural for toxicity.
“The Rolls Royce of sleep. Zero smell, lifetime durability.”

What Is Actually Inside
Nothing in a Vispring needs to off-gas. Steel springs pocketed in calico, British fleece wool, horsetail hair, cotton, and cashmere or silk in the upper collections. The fillings are tufted through by hand instead of bonded with adhesive, and the flame resistance comes from the wool itself.
How the Bed Is Made
A Vispring passes through many pairs of hands and no production line. Springs sewn into calico pockets and tied together, fillings opened and laid in layers, a border stitched through by hand. The company has worked this way since 1901.
Before You Order
Delivery into Vail is its own discipline. Village-core properties often mean underground parking with restricted height, a lift with a shallow car, and a walk from a loading zone. We measure lift depth and door width separately, because they are different numbers and the second one defeats more deliveries. For larger custom dimensions we survey before confirming. The divan base ships in sections, so it is almost never the constraint. The mattress is one rigid piece and it either fits or it does not.
Custom sizes, delivered to Vail
Vispring builds to any dimension up to 100 inches by 100 inches. If a standard King is the wrong shape for your room or your body, the custom mattress and beds programme sets out every size we make, with minimum room dimensions for each.
Questions from Vail
Yes, though it takes planning. Village core properties usually mean a loading zone, underground parking with a height restriction, and a lift. We measure lift car depth and door width separately, because they are different numbers and the depth is what defeats most oversize deliveries. The divan base ships in sections; the mattress is one rigid piece.
At 8,150 feet, yes. Vail sits above the elevation where sleep studies begin recording measurable disruption, including shallower breathing and fragmented sleep in the first nights. A mattress cannot fix thin air. What it can do is avoid making the room hotter and drier than it already is, which is where natural fillings differ from foam.
It depends on how the room is heated and how often the house is used. Heavily heated village bedrooms usually favour a filling with a high wool content for humidity buffering. We would rather work from your room and your usage than recommend a model from a distance, which is why the showroom visit is worth the drive.
The Cherry Creek Showroom
Come in before you commit. The showroom is roughly two hours west of the Denver showroom on I-70, and we would rather spend an hour helping you choose correctly than sell you the wrong tension quickly. Bring your room measurements.
